His motivation to tell the story of Dear Michael is marked, first of all, by his friendship with filmmaker Marcos Cabotá, with whom he co-directed Kyoko, a multi-award-winning documentary about one of the most incredible anecdotes around the figure of John Lennon. That collaboration meant that they spent many hours together and every day Cabotá told him an anecdote about his relationship with Michael Jackson. The fascination generated by those stories in Bover led him to make Dear Michael.
